Kala is a transplant from New Mexico that now calls Southern California her home. She graduated with her master’s in psychology and then pursued her clinical license as an LMFT and certification in EMDR. She currently works at Resilient Desert Healing & Wellness, her private practice, that focuses on healing and overcoming trauma. During her academic career she was fortunate to work in clinical research on PTSD at the Veterans Hospital in Long Beach. This experience solidified the importance of a wholistic approach for our physical and mental health. Kala has been a martial arts practitioner for many years; becoming a certified Tai Chi instructor has only deepened her passion for the practice. Kala loves to share her passion for Tai Chi by teaching small groups or one-on-one sessions. Her teaching style is collaborative and conversational, but she will give gentle touch love when necessary. Outside of Tai Chi, Kala is passionate about food, salsa dancing, and being a good aunt to her baby niece.
